ABBS Files Patent for New Approach to Low Cost Civilian Minefield Clearance

ABBS have filed a patent for the MIRAGE minefield clearance unmanned ground vehicle (UGV).

This UGV is designed to make minefield clearance safer and cheaper for civilian minefield clearance operations. The vehicle is designed to use Ground Penetration Radar to locate buried mines in the ground, and then mark them for removal as it progresses. An auger is then used to drill down to expose the mine (if necessary) and a small THORN munition placed on top of the mine to burn it out safely.

The eventual aim would be to provide live tracking of the MIRAGE vehicles, so that sponsors can see how many acres of land are being cleared thanks to their support.
